What Is AWS Credit?

AWS credit is a form of billing credit applied to your AWS account that pays for any Amazon Web Services usage. When AWS credits are applied to an account, they appear in the Billing section and are automatically deducted from your monthly bill before charging your payment method.

Credits can be used on virtually any AWS service: EC2 (virtual machines), S3 (object storage), RDS (databases), Lambda (serverless), SageMaker (machine learning), CloudFront (CDN), and 200+ other services. The only exceptions are certain marketplace listings and third-party services.

AWS credits come in several types: promotional credits (the most common, used in our accounts), Enterprise Discount Program (EDP) credits for large-volume customers, and AWS Marketplace credits for specific services.

Promotional credits typically have a 1-year expiry from the date they are applied. EDP credits are negotiated with defined terms. Our product listings always specify the credit type and any expiry information.

To use AWS credits: log into AWS Console → Billing → Credits → Apply Credits. Credits are automatically applied to future bills before charging your payment method.
